This last week was to end to our Summer Sports season. It all began on Thursday morning with Law Enforcement Torch Run. This year we had a terrific turn out for the event with more than 50 participants that biked and ran approximately 7 miles from downtown Wausau to Cedar Creek.
Afterwards, the athletes and coaches made the trek south to Stevens Point for two days of competition with nearly 2,000 other athletes in Soccer, Track & Field, Powerlifting and Swimming. Wausau Metro Adult took 7 soccer players (1 team), 19 track athletes and 12 swimming athletes.
We celebrated with everyone at opening ceremonies as this was the 40th Anniversary of Special Olympics Wisconsin. Then competed hard in events on Friday and again on Saturday. We had one last celebration on Friday night at the closing ceremonies and dance.
It was a terrific season and "thanks" to everyone that participated and supported the sports over the last few months. We look forward to seeing everyone again next season.
